9:45 am: Intermediate Hebrew Conversation - Bracha Malkin Improve your Hebrew skills with a conversational
curriculum designed to make learning Hebrew an exciting experience.
11 am - 12 pm: Contemporary Jewish Issues - Rabbi Topp Each week, a different topic is learned by tracing its
development from Biblical sources through generations of Jewish thought until the modern
day. This course is for anyone who is interested in the Torah's relevance for our lives today.
12 pm - 1 pm: Bread and Bible - Rabbi Topp Enjoy lunch (bread is optional) and learn the portion of
the week that is read and learned by Jews worldwide. Closely reading and
analyzing the text, we will highlight themes, perspectives and the multiple
interpretations of the commentaries.
7:30 - 9:30 pm: Beit Midrash For Women
The Ives Youth Lounge comes alive every Monday evening
with women studying b'chavruta (partner) and in small groups. For as short or
as long as you like, join us with your child or your friend to explore the
depth and richness of our tradition. Each week, a guest speaker will give a
talk at 8:15pm for fifteen minutes. For more information or for assistance in

TUESDAYS
7 pm: Halacha & the Parsha - Rabbi Posy An in-depth discussion of topics that arise in the modern
workplace and society.
7 pm: Intermediate Hebrew - Aviva Tivon The Intermediate Hebrew Class is designed to be a
continuation for students who took Beginning Hebrew or are already comfortable reading and writing
basic vocabulary and conjunction. The class directs students to engage in conversations about actual
events, discuss various stories and learn grammar. This is a fun class based on the Hebrew
University curriculum.
7 pm: Gemara Sanhedrin - Rabbi Langer This class delves into laws relating to the Jewish
judicial process.
8 pm: R and R: Ritual and Reason - Rabbi Topp Explore the essential reasons behind the classic mitzvot
and rituals of Judaism. Discover the rationale and beauty of the Mitzvot of
Shabbat, the Holidays, Kashrut, Prayer & More. Dedicated by Heidi & Albert Praw.

8 pm: Up in the Prayer - Rabbi Posy
Come and explore the nuances and the treasures hidden in

THURSDAYS
11:00 am: Rabbi Mandel 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month is Access Talmud,
where we discuss the origins and development of the Talmud, 2nd Thursday is
Book Club where we read and review books of note, and 4th Thursday is movie
club, where we watch and discuss important films with Jewish themes.
8:15 pm: Gemara - Rabbi Nachum Sauer Come explore the depths of the Talmud with one of the
leading Talmidei Chachamim in Los Angeles.
SHABBAT
8 am - 8:30 am: Parshat Hashavua - Rabbi Topp Start your morning with coffee and an investigation into
the portion of the week that takes a fresh look at the text and commentaries.
This class attempts to enhance our understanding of the narrative and laws by
discovering the underlying recurring themes hidden between the lines.
