Message From Rabbi Topp
What does it mean to be part of a community? Being involved in a community is significant not only because of the opportunities to learn, pray, grow intellectually and spiritually. It also provides a sense of belonging and a space to build meaningful friendships that profoundly enrich your life. Being part of something bigger and bringing your personal talents into the context of community are keys to increase happiness. As Viktor Frankl wrote in his classic book Man's Search for Meaning, "For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side-effect of one's dedication to a cause greater than oneself."
What kind of community is Beth Jacob? It is one in which we strive to create a caring community that is inspired by the bold vision of Torah. That vision is one which celebrates a life of mitzvot and at the same time cherishes every member of the Jewish people, and all human beings. Our shul is a second home to so many, in which we study, we pray, we grow, we challenge, we give, we lead, we become--all in an atmosphere of inclusiveness. Animated by the sacredness of Torah and the Jewish people, we take the lead to strengthen Jewish education, to advocate for Israel and to make the world a better place.
Thank you for visiting our site and we hope you will visit often, and not just virtually. I look forward to seeing you in shul. For you and your family, join Beth Jacob and bring tradition to life!
