Shabbat Morning Chumash Shiur with Rabbi Topp - Beth Jacob Congregation

Parshat Hashavua, with Rabbi Kalman Topp
8:00 to 8:30 am, Shabbat Morning, Eisenstat Beit Midrash

Rabbi Topp’s Shabbat Parshat Hashavua Shiur gives participants a chance to delve into the text of the weekly Torah portion and gain a deeper understanding of the Parsha before Torah is read during services.

“There are very few things that will get me out of bed at 7:00 am on a Shabbos morning but Rabbi Topp’s Parsha Shiur is one of them,” says Mark Goldin, who has been attending the shiur for three years. “Rabbi Topp draws from many sources, adds chiddushim and delivers the learning with humor, clarity and wisdom at a level entirely appropriate for his audience. This is one of the highlights of my week.”

“Rabbi Topp’s weekly Parsha Shiur is one of the highlights of our Shabbat,” say Mark and Janey Herskovitz. “His Shiur is illuminating and refreshing, bringing deeper meaning to various topics and themes in the Sedra, regardless of one’s background. Rabbi Topp gathers from a wide variety of fascinating sources, referencing medieval and modern commentators, as well as Midrashic text. We thoroughly enjoy the adventurous journey, exploring the Torah text and narrative context, which includes associating phrases and verses with those found in other Parshiot. We also love Rabbi Topp’s stories and jokes, and the Shiur Chevra is warm and welcoming.”
